went to a club for the first time last night. didn't want to, of course; i was all set to cuddle in bed with my book and talk to jon. i inadvertently drank a small bottle of vodka, though, and what do you know, but i was ready to go out.

went to the liquid rooms. dance floor sticky like ladd, but the people were older, looked more like franz ferdinand and were all smoking. four cigarette burns total garnered by my flatmates; i received none. the music was good; indie pop with some good dance thrown in. also, "walk this way," during which i felt happily american.

in fact, i felt happily american the whole time. british people, it turns out, are not very wild dancers. i, however, trained at the sarah damerville school of dance, and so was a little on the obvious side. got hit on a lot, danced in an extremely sweaty fashion, and thought of jon and sarah all night. it was enjoyable. floated home in a cab at 3.30 in the morning, showered, and called jon. because those are the important things in life.

best interaction: the last guy i danced with. i was standing off to the side, giving my flatmates a chance to tell me they wanted to go home. i had my hands on my hips, elbows stuck out. a guy i'd noticed earlier simply because he was easily six foot seven and has more than a passing resemblence to james. he put his hands on his hips, stuck his elbows out, and waggled his eyebrows at me. the six foot sevenness made it ridiculous. i told him i'd give him one song. he did lots of skinny white boy shimmying, butt-shaking with elbows goin', and general silliness. it was nice to end on.

a night of silly dancing. i still feel like there's cotton in my ears; the music must've been even louder than it sounded through the vodka. a little worried about that. hopefully i'll wake up tomorrow and it will be magically better.

people will be visiting me in a matter of weeks. that's better than anything.
